Chris Storr – Co-opted Governor

My name is Chris Storr and I joined the governing body in September 2016.

I live in Hull with my husband Colin, and our grown up children live close by. My granddaughter will be starting in year one in September and I am pleased to say that she has had a very positive start to her school life because of the dedication of the Foundation Stage practitioners she has met along the way.

I have been a qualified teacher since 1975 and spent 37 years in the classroom, all but 6 in the early years. For the last 4 years I have been a Senior Leader for Hull Local Authority Early Years Advisory Team. I passionately believe that the Early Years is truly the foundation stone for future learning and for developing well rounded individuals who can cope with the demands of modern day living. As I am reaching the end of my career I want to continue to be involved in the field that is so significant in all of our lives.

My husband and I own a caravan and we enjoy weekend breaks were we can explore the countryside and the coast. We enjoy walking and cycling and fortunately own some very good waterproof clothing and foot wear!

Sarah Jackson – Co-opted Governor

My name is Sarah Jackson and I joined the Governing body in July 2016.

I live in Healing with my husband and two young children.  I have a degree in Economics and I am a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) with almost 20 years of experience within various industries (Food Manufacture, Construction and Logistics)

I am delighted to have the opportunity to be involved with the Nursery and hope to use my knowledge and experience to help support the Nursery as it grows and flourishes in the future.

Steve Watson - Co-Opted Governor

I’m Steve Watson and am delighted to have been recently appointed as a governor. I am passionate about ensuring the children’s learning and development is at the heart of what we do.

I have lived in Healing for a number of years with my amazing wife, Helen, and our two energetic boys. However, I have lived around the local area for most of my life and keep being drawn back.  With James (6) attending Great Coates Village Nursery previously, and Edward (3) having started this year, I felt this role was a fantastic opportunity to give something back as thanks for the start it has given them both in their education and development.

Previously I worked for several companies, both locally and internationally, primarily in sales and marketing roles, but also in manufacturing and planning which have all given me a wide range of skills.  I took the opportunity around three years ago to start up my own company and I am successfully helping other businesses improve through developing their strategies, capabilities and people. Alongside this, I also offer training events and support charities in some of their work wherever I can.

Personally, I enjoy spending time with my family, the odd game of golf with friends, going out on my bike and a spot of photography when I get the chance.  I also support the coaching of juniors at Healing Hotspurs football club at weekends.
