I’m Steve Watson and I am passionate about ensuring the children’s learning and development is at the heart of what we do as governors.
I have lived in Healing for a number of years with my amazing wife, Helen, and our two energetic boys. However, I have lived around the local area for most of my life and keep being drawn back. With James (7) and Edward (4) having both attended Great Coates Village Nursery previously, I felt this role was a fantastic opportunity to give something back as thanks for the start it has given them both in their education and development.
Previously I worked for several companies, both locally and internationally, primarily in sales and marketing roles, but also in manufacturing and planning which have all given me a wide range of skills. I took the opportunity around three years ago to start up my own company and I am successfully helping other businesses improve through developing their strategies, capabilities and people. Alongside this, I also offer training events and support charities in some of their work wherever I can.
Personally, I enjoy spending time with my family, the odd game of golf with friends, going out on my bike and a spot of photography when I get the chance. I also support the coaching of juniors at Healing Hotspurs football club at weekends.
My name is Sophie Nicolaou and I joined the governing body as a parent governor in January 2017.
I have a degree in English and have taught English at secondary school and sixth form level. Teaching older teenagers has taught me the value of the early years' stage in promoting a love of learning and building lifelong learners.
I myself attended Great Coates Village Nursery as a child and now I have two daughters who will do likewise; Iris attended the Nursery in 2016, before moving on to Great Coates Primary School, and Audrey is due to start in 2018. We live in Great Coates and as a parent and a resident, I feel that we are lucky to have such a lovely nursery with such a long history. I am privileged to be able to support the Nursery, its staff and the children and to watch as they go from strength to strength.
