We believe that Nursery School is the first stage in your child's education and we hope that all our children and their families will find it a happy and positive experience. We aim to provide a happy and caring environment in which the needs of each individual are met.
When your child starts with us they will be allocated a Key Person. This is the member of staff that will teach your child in small groups and plan their activities as well as assessing their progress. All members of staff will always be willing to discuss any queries or problems you may have.

Talking with and listening to the children will feature greatly in our daily routine. We aim to build good relationships and to develop the children's self esteem and self-confidence. When a child feels valued and respected, he or she in turn will value and respect others.
Young children learn best through play and first hand experiences. We believe it is important to have a balance of small group activities where each Key Person teaches the children new ideas and concepts and then free choice time where children can use our extensive range of resources to practise and apply the skills they have been taught. 

We use the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance to plan activities and assess the children during their time with us. For more detailed information please see the Curriculum section of the website.The Early Years Foundation Stage encompasses all that we aim to provide at Great Coates Village Nursery School.
 

Nursery Session Times:
Morning Session 8.45am - 11.45am
Afternoon Session 12.30pm - 3.30pm.

Whilst we do not have a statutory school uniform, you can buy uniform with our school logo on from 'My Clothing.com'. Please ask at the office if you have any problems accessing the website.

May we also please remind you to dress your child in sensible footwear and clothing which is easily washed. The children will be learning through first hand experiences at this stage of their development. This means that they will experiment with a wide variety of materials including glue, paint, sand, mud and baking ingredients. We do insist that the children wear aprons but accidents can happen!

We would also ask that ALL clothing is clearly marked with your child's name.
